New retail scale technology enhances customer engagement and improves ease of operation
One of the benefits of advancing technology is that it can provide more opportunities for customer engagement.
Manufacturer DIGI/TERAOKA designs products that are capable of either receiving data for updates or act as servers to communicate with other products, such as electronic shelf labels, POS solutions, printers, and more. The company’s latest scale, SM-6000, uses this technology to allow multi-level engagement between businesses and their customers.
The scale features technology such as the Hi-Touch PLU system, which replaces the preset keys typically used for item management. Hi-Touch links information between the electronic shelf label (ESL) and the scale, such as PLU and price data. The shop clerk simply taps the ESL next to an item, and its PLU is automatically transmitted to the screen, making for faster and smoother transactions, and eliminating common errors such as selecting an incorrect PLU code.
Another technology embedded in the scale is Speed ID, which uses NFID nametags to bring up employee information simply by standing in front of the scale. Using this intelligent NFID system instead of a manual log-in allows clerks to float from scale to scale with greater ease and efficiency.
SM-6000 features a new-generation user interface that imitates the intuitive operation of a smartphone. Clerks with little or no training can operate the system with ease, boosting productivity. The scale platter height is also reduced by 50% from previous models, making it more ergonomic and comfortable to operate. In addition, the scale’s vertical display reduces the barrier between clerks and the customer. This encourages more natural interaction with customers, and its modern design gives a stunning visual impact to your storefront.
The product supports Linerless Labels, which eliminate paper waste from liner backings and allow labels of varying lengths to be printed using a single label roll. The printed label is then cut automatically using Auto-Cut, giving labels a clean cut and helping to prolong the life of the machine.
The SM-6000 is a powerful retail scale that utilizes a variety of technologies to make stores more efficient, and as a result, brings businesses closer to their customers.
