How can retailers reduce inventory discrepancies with a cloud-based solution?
Our cloud-based access control solution enables retailers to do this in two different ways. On the one hand, retailers can grant specific access permissions and – in case of staff changes for instance – revoke them again in real-time. This means, employees can only open those doors they are presently authorized to open. Managers no longer have to make sure a former employee hands in his keys to avoid unauthorized future access to the warehouse. Our solution ensures this with virtually just a single mouse click or a swipe of the finger, depending on whether you use the online platform or the app. On the other hand, retailers are able to track at any time who entered which door and at what time. Not only does this allow them to detect suspicious behavior, this information also helps to shed light on incidents. What’s more, security systems generally also have preventive effects.
Opening doors remotely and regardless of business hours sounds very practical when it comes to deliveries. But doesn’t this create security issues, both on the part of the software as well as on-site?
SALTO originates in the security sector and innately addresses security requirements in its product design. There is a good reason we have equipped –among others- military bases, intelligence agencies, parliaments or research centers around the world with our solutions. That is to say, it’s not just all communication within the system that is highly encrypted. High-risk security processes – such as unlocking doors remotely – can likewise only be initiated by using two-factor authentication via prior verified users. Hackers are unable to use the software data in the cloud to unlock doors or grant access. Meanwhile, it depends on the local circumstances whether you grant suppliers unsupervised access or not. What’s great about our access control solution is that users can select the specific doors suppliers may unlock and use – for example, just the exterior door – to deliver and leave merchandise in the foyer.
How will you showcase your system to EuroCIS 2018 visitors?
We will present a fully functional system in Düsseldorf (Hall 10, Booth D13A), which allows us to show all application scenarios. We look forward to visitors of the trade fair – and any critical questions because we are certain that we have positive answers.
