EuroCIS 2021, The Leading Trade Fair for Retail Technology, will be held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 16 to 18 March 2021. And it is as important as an innovation, information and community platform as ever today. Digitalisation is progressing and has already forced retail to gear up technologically for some time now to meet the needs and expectations of fully connected shoppers. But it took this year’s pandemic to build up this pressure at lightning speed. During the lockdown and beyond, the use of digital tools greatly increased in importance while physical stores with sophisticated online connections gained an advantage over other competitors and contactless payment has now become the rule rather than an exception – so goodbye cash at the check-out. These are just some of the most obvious examples:
Smart IT for Smart Retail
EuroCIS 2021 shows international retail the perspectives and way forward for business to open up – for retailers driven by smart technology with solutions and innovations revolving around Smart Store and Smart Retail. Seamless retail, IoT applications, Big Data, Payment Systems, E-Commerce-Solutions, Mobile Solutions & Technologies, Checkout Management, Digital Marketing, Robotics or Merchandise Security, Food Service Fulfilment and Smart Energy Management are just some of the forward-looking topics covered by EuroCIS. Over the three days of EuroCIS international developers and solutions providers will not only present their further developments and innovations but also be available to the expert audience for direct technical dialogue and tailor-made retail concepts. Exhibitors will include such renowned providers as Axis, Diebold Nixdorf, Digi, Epson, GK Software, Glory, Hanshow, ITAB, NCR, Online Software, Partner-Tech, Pricer, Quad, Roqqio, Soft Engine, Solum, Start Micronics, Xovis and Zuchetti.
EuroCIS Stages and Start-up Hub
At the Technology Stage retail technology developments, innovations and trends will be showcased by exhibitors and their retail partners using current business cases. The subjects covered here include Mobile Solutions, the latest developments in self-checkout and self-scanning, trends in Big Data and Analytics, RFID, payment and current article surveillance technologies. The Omnichannel Stage will now become the Connected Retail Stage. Looking at the market we can see a rising number of digital touchpoints beyond classic webshops such as social media and marketplaces or platforms – and therefore also more dovetailing possibilities in digital retail. While Omnichannel focuses on the seamless transition between the online and offline worlds, Connected Retail goes beyond this. Here Mobile Commerce, Contextual Commerce, Customer Access and Omnichannel Services all the way to a full-service set are the themes that place consumers’ cross-channel behaviour centre stage.
Visitors can visit both Stages free of charge and without prior registration. Furthermore, all lectures will be interpreted simultaneously (German/English).
Start-ups are young, creative, flexible, future-oriented and particularly stand out with their innovative solutions. EuroCIS offers newcomers specialising in the development of state-of-the-art retail IT systems and solutions a dedicated presentation area with integral lecture forum at the Start-up Hub.
EuroCIS Virtual Connect enables virtual interaction all year round
Thanks to EuroCIS Virtual Connect, or V-connect for short, all members of the EuroCIS community can now stay connected virtually – and, what’s more, 365 days a year. “As a trade fair for technological and digital solutions expanding the service portfolio to include a virtual, all-year interaction platform, makes sense. Face-to-face contacts and the experiences gained on site are indispensable but an online presence with all its associated possibilities is just as important,” says Elke Moebius, Project Director Retail & Retail Technology at Messe Düsseldorf, explaining the new online portfolio. Having attended the physical EuroCIS event, visitors and exhibitors are already familiar with such digital services as the EuroCIS App, Scan2Lead as well as the well-known Matchmaking Tool. These features are now complemented by the new, year- round offering: exhibitors are given the opportunity to capitalise on multi-media exposure while visitors and exhibitors can make contact online and exchange industry expertise and ideas.
At the Exhibition Space exhibitors can introduce themselves to their audience with their highlights and solutions in a virtual 3D Showroom. This – in addition to a physical trade fair stand – creates a platform for the digital brand experience, irrespective of time and location. Thanks to V-connect exhibitors will remain in touch with a highly competent, international retail community 365 days a year. “There is no question about trade fairs serving industries as lively hubs. What’s exciting is that now we can enhance this world with a virtual sphere where direct and expert exchange is also enabled between the trade fairs,” says Elke Moebius.
Through web sessions exhibitors will have the chance to address and involve their audience live and interactively. They can stream their presentations live at a set time and day while participants can interact via live chat during the web sessions. The video stream is recorded and made available for interested trade visitors at any time.
Generating valuable business leads and building the professional network – this is one of the major aims of live events, too. This is eased many times over for visitors and exhibitors at EuroCis by digital Matchmaking features. Using the Matchmaking App both can communicate in real time and make appointments while a smart algorithm learns how to propose increasingly better contacts. Through the new “Virtual Meeting Room” and social media channels and groups the EuroCIS Community can tap into the vast potential of industry connections – for “business around the world & around the clock”.
The New Retail Salsa – Spice up your Community
The ingredients for the new virtual web talks – the Retail Salsa – are retailers, solutions providers and independent industry experts who regularly report on successful customer journeys and use practical case studies. Every month the Retail Salsa will deal with a different topical theme in the Web Talk. The first Salsa Session will be offered live on 18 November at 4.00 pm on the theme of contactless payment. Those wishing to follow it live can register at EuroShop.mag from early November. EuroCIS exhibitors who want to be featured as a webtalk participant can read more at: www.eurocis.com/eurocis_retail_salsa. Hosting the Retail Salsa will be EuroShop, the world’s No.1 retail trade fair, and iXtenso, the journal for retailers.
EuroShop 3|6|5 – Your Community mag – stay connected to stay ahead
EuroCIS also forms an essential component of EuroShop 3|6|5 – Your Community mag and this communication platform for industry topics, news and insights has become an established industry meeting point for all parties interested in the retail and exhibition industries. Here the EuroCIS community can find all their relevant information as well as a range of target-group specific participation options in the “Retail Technology” section.
PROTaction – holding trade fairs safely
Messe Düsseldorf has worked out a Hygiene and Infection Protection Concept based on the Corona Protection Ordinance of the state North Rhine-Westphalia (CoronaSchVO NRW) with a special view to ensuring compliance with all required health precautions and distancing rules at all forthcoming events at the Düsseldorf home base. This concept was already successfully deployed at the Exhibition Centre for the Caravan Salon event in September. The EuroCIS Team has also adapted space allocations inside halls to meet official stipulations. Wider aisles and consistent routing make it possible to observe the minimum distance of 1.5 m in a safe and effective manner. Spacious entrance and waiting zones ensure quick and orderly access while a large number of sanitising dispensers have been installed in highly visible locations. Special guides ensure larger gatherings of visitors are avoided from the outset and that hygiene rules such as the wearing of face masks covering both the mouth and nose are complied with properly.
Concurrent Energy Storage Europe
Held concurrently with EuroCIS 2021 in Hall 1 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre will be Energy Storage Europe, the International Trade Fair for Energy Systems, Solutions, Services. Here the specialist retail audience can also find out about technical solutions, hard and software suppliers as well as state aid schemes for various energy storage systems live.
