Your view on prices, retailers and plagiarism: Competitive advantages with monitoring apps

One step ahead of the competition: How retailers and producers monitor the market and optimise their strategy Competition analysis, location and store researching and portfolio comparisons: Nowadays retailers get nearly all information. The problem here: A complete and constant analysis costs time and money. Moreover, there is always the risk of incompleteness or mistakes.
What retailers need is a high-quality software that retrieves prices, clearly presents products and product lines, records stores and locations and delivers addresses and contacts. Only then will professional crawling be successful.

Andreas Seibt, product manager at the technology agency tarent solutions GmbH, presents three application scenarios of crawling and explains what software needs to do to maximise both retailers' and manufacturers' profit.

After an overview of the classic price crawling process for pricing and product line analysis of competitive data, the speaker goes on to the second form of crawling: Target Intelligence, also called “lead crawling”. With Target Intelligence, merchants can search relevant sales and competition data on the World Wide Web and obtain B2B information such as address information, shop information, contacts and opening hours. The software can also tell if a website is a store and directly extracts the website operator's contact information. All of this happens through the use of specific search tags and the targeted use of high-performance web crawling technologies. This technology enables effective researching in combination with customizable algorithms – if necessary in real time.

After the classic price crawling and the target intelligence, Andreas Seibt addresses manufacturers directly with the third type of crawling: the Channel Monitoring. Using this technique, they can track market price developments of their products, monitor the type and characteristics of promotions and availabilities and detect plagiarisms and counterfeits at an early stage.

With copio, tarent solutions GmbH offers software that covers all three fields of professional crawling, supporting retailers as well as manufacturers to optimise their position in the market.

Internet of Things – Retailing in a Changing World

For the end user in the smart home, the Internet of Things – IoT – has a clear definition by now. The garage recognises the car, the room lighting is based on the time of day, the coffee maker starts in the morning as soon as the alarm rings – events and alarms trigger rule-based actions without human intervention. However, what can be realised on a small scale poses real challenges on a large scale. What does the "smart retail market" of the future look like? What do customers expect today and in the next few years? And most of all, how can retailers benefit from the Internet of Things? The presentation will highlight challenges and opportunities for the digital commerce. Using exemplary projects, the speakers from the technology agency tarent solutions GmbH and Deutsche Telekom AG illustrate the benefits retailers can obtain from IoT and NB IoT (narrowband) communication.

The speakers present practical use cases in the retail and logistics industry and look back on joint IoT and pilot projects, giving answers to questions like How companies manage to automatically track the utilisation of product shelves, supply ranges and other assortment inventories via sensors? How do tracking systems send a new order automatically to the connected stock management system without requiring employees to perform even one single step manually? The presentation will show how retailers can use such high-tech automation processes in the future to maximise optimisation of their internal processes.
